Orlando-Area Discount Plan Extended to March

Share

Visitors to the Orlando area now have longer to take advantage of the “Great Fall-Winter Getaway” promotion sponsored by the Kissimmee-St. Cloud Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The promotion includes a free booklet containing discount-coupons for about 15 sightseeing attractions. In years past, the promotion expired Dec. 31. This year it has been extended through March 31, 1993.

Among attractions covered by the booklet are Universal Studios Florida, Walt Disney World, Sea World, the Church Street shopping/entertainment complex, and the Wet ‘n Wild water park, all in Orlando; Gatorland and Water Mania in Kissimmee, and Busch Gardens in Tampa.

To obtain a booklet, call (800) 327-9159. Figure on two to four weeks to receive a copy.

Three Kissimmee dinner show options are also included: Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, Ft. Liberty Wild West Dinner Show, and Arabian Nights. Otherwise, restaurants are not included in this year’s booklet.

Some coupons are on a 2-for-1 admission basis; most others offer a 20% discount on admission costs. At most of the attractions, up to six persons can use the coupons, which is good news for families.

The booklet also cites about 60 hotels and motels that offer a variety of discounts off regular rates. Call (800) 333-KISS, to make reservations. Be sure to ask for the “Great Fall” promotional rate.

Participating hotel chains include Econo-Lodge, Days Inns, Hilton, Holiday Inns, Howard Johnson, Hyatt, Radisson, Ramada, Sheraton and Travelodge. Coupons for rental homes and campgrounds are also available.

Some hotels offer extra perks such as complimentary breakfasts for children. The discounts are not available during holidays.

Also in Florida, the Exit Information Guide, based in Gainesville, is continuing its offer of a free “Florida Travel Discount Guide.” The 120-page booklet, printed quarterly, covers motels, sightseeing attractions, restaurants, shopping malls/factory outlets, and campgrounds near four major Florida highways: 4, 10, 75 and 95. Mileage charts and maps are also included.
