Norwalk Man Dies 1 Week After Freeway Shooting
A 22-year-old Norwalk man has died a week after he was shot in the head while driving on the freeway in eastern Los Angeles County, officials said.
Phouthasack Vannarath had been in intensive care at Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina since the Oct. 9 shooting on the Pomona Freeway in Industry.
His condition worsened and he died Saturday evening, said sheriff’s Deputy Victoria Berenbau.
Vannarath and two passengers were driving west on the freeway at 9:15 p.m. when three people in a car pulled alongside and opened fire. Vannarath was shot in the head but managed to pull over to the shoulder, Berenbau said.
His two passengers were not wounded, and no one has been arrested in the shooting, she said.
