UCLA Defense Stymies CSUN in Scoring 3-1 Soccer Victory

UCLA scored three consecutive second-half goals to break up a scoreless tie and roll to a 3-1 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Pacific Division college soccer victory over Cal State Northridge on Friday at UCLA.

Midfielder Paul Ratcliffe started the scoring seven minutes after halftime. Adam Frye and Robbie LaBelle assisted on the score.

Phillip Button came off the bench to double UCLA’s lead at the 74-minute mark and Joe Max Moore made it 3-0 at 88 minutes.

Dominic Zapata scored the only goal for CSUN a minute and half later. Zapata’s shot was just one of seven the Matadors got on goal against a sterling UCLA defense.

The Bruins (9-2-2) got off 18 shots on goal.

Northridge fell to 8-6.
