HEALDSBURG--Attention golfers: Oct. 31 is the registration deadline for the fourth annual Healdsburg City Golf Tournament in the heart of Sonoma County wine country Nov. 7-8. Tee time is 8 a.m. both days at the Tayman Park Golf Course. $50; proceeds benefit area groups. Take U.S. 101 north to the Central Healdsburg exit, turn right at Matheson Street and go one mile. CARLSBAD--With more than 700 vendors, the Carlsbad Village Faire is one of the largest street fairs in the state. Arts and crafts, international food booths, a farmer’s market and entertainment are featured 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 1 on Carlsbad Village Drive and adjoining streets. Free. Take Interstate 5 south to California 78, then east to Plaza Camino Real mall; park at the mall and take a shuttle to the fair. (619) 931-8400.

PALM SPRINGS--A street fair with desert flair is scheduled Oct. 31-Nov. 1 along Palm Canyon Drive and Indian Canyon Drive, outside the Desert Fashion Plaza. The Festival of the Canyons is 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days. Arts and crafts, food, an Indian market, wine-tasting, beer gardens, a children’s area, American Indian dancers and other entertainment are slated. Free. Take Interstate 10 east to California 111. PALM DESERT--More desert festivities are in store at the annual Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade, beginning at 1 p.m. Nov. 8. The parade features golf carts decorated with this year’s comic theme, “Funnies Come Alive.” Marching bands, celebrities and drill teams also participate in the procession down El Paseo, between Prickly Pear and San Pablo. CALICO--Calico Ghost Town is the setting for the 12th annual Calico Fine Arts Festival: A Show of Western Artists, Nov. 6-8. More than 50 artists from Western states participate in the event, held in this restored silver-mining town 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Fri.-Sun. Also on hand: roving musicians, American Indian dancers and costumed characters of the Old West. $5 per vehicle. From Interstate 15 north, take the Ghost Town Road exit. Festival is on Main Street. MERCED--More than 35 junior-high and high-school marching bands play in the 33rd annual Central California Band Review, Nov. 14. The parade competition starts at 9 a.m. on 18th Street, between G and N streets; the awards ceremony is at 2 p.m. in Courthouse Park; the field show competition is at 5 p.m. at the Merced College Stadium.
