Variety Reviewer: The word around the venerable trade paper Variety is that lawyers for movie reviewer Joseph McBride and the publication are “settling out” and that he will soon depart. “I don’t really want to comment at this time,” McBride told The Times on Tuesday. McBride became the center of controversy earlier this year when he wrote a slashing review of the Harrison Ford thriller “Patriot Games,” saying it was, among other things, anti-Irish.
