A 26-year-old man was in critical condition Wednesday following a shooting that police say may be gang-related.

Javier Moreno, a resident of Santa Ana, was found lying on the sidewalk in front of a house at 200 S. Halladay St. at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Police Sgt. Dick Faust said.

Moreno was conscious when officers arrived and told them he had no idea who shot him, Faust said.

“He said he wasn’t with anyone and that he didn’t see anyone,” Faust said. “We have no witnesses at this point. It appears that nobody saw anything, which is typical in gang-related shootings.”

Faust said police have no leads or suspects in the case, which is under investigation.

Moreno was taken by ambulance to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana where he was listed in serious condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
