Views of Santa Monica City Council Election
Opponents of Santa Monicans for Renters Rights continually say that rent control is not in danger. They forget to mention that while City Council members cannot change the basic law, they can use their power to make it impotent.
Joining the many Republicans who are running for council and saying that rent control is not endangered are the police and fire unions. While they are certainly within their rights to endorse candidates, I am appalled by their efforts to diminish the importance of rent control and elect a council they can control.
