SAN CLEMENTE : City Hall to Provide Election Results

City Hall will remain open late tonight to provide election results on the City Council and other local races.

The public is invited to come to City Hall or call one of several phone numbers for election results, City Clerk Myrna Erway said. Results of the San Clemente election will also be televised on Channel 30, the public-access channel.

Up until 8 p.m., residents can get results from the main switch board (714) 361-8200. After that hour, residents can call (714) 361-8302, (714) 361-8303 or (714) 361-8309. The phone lines and City Hall will be open until at least midnight, Erway said.

Seven candidates, including incumbents Scott Diehl and Candace Haggard, are vying for two council seats. The challengers are Mark Blencowe, Jay Durkin, Daniel R. Huard, David T. Leland and Glenn Edward Roy.

The city clerk and city treasurer positions are also up for election. John Koch is challenging Erway for the position of city clerk, while City Treasurer Kenneth E. Carr is running unopposed.
