Clippers Lose to Warriors, 122-116
Second-year center Chris Gatling scored 21 points and Chris Mullin added 19 to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 122-116 victory over the Clippers on Monday in the final exhibition game for both teams.
Seventeen of Gatling’s points came in the second half--including 10 in the fourth quarter. The Warriors outscored the Clippers, 14-6, in the final 3:16.
The Warriors finished with a 6-2 exhibition record, second best to the defending NBA champion Chicago Bulls, who went 9-0. The Clippers finished 3-4.
Ken Norman led the Clippers with 20 points. Danny Manning and Gary Grant had 17 each and Ron Harper 16.
The Clippers begin the regular season Friday at home against the Lakers; the Warriors open at Minnesota on Saturday.
