Monrovia : Centre Theatre Closes

Share

The Monrovia Center Theatre, established three years ago on East Lemon Avenue, has been closed.

“I feel really bad because they did wonderful productions,” City Councilwoman Phyllis McCarville, former president of the theater’s guild, said Tuesday.

Founders Norman and Mary Bowman said that ticket revenue didn’t cover rent, utilities and insurance and that the community did not support the theater. But McCarville said the guild had tried to raise money through bake sales and dinners.
