Oxnard : Woman Injured When Train Hits Car

An Oxnard woman was slightly injured Thursday when her car was struck broadside by a slow-moving train as it crossed 7th Street in Oxnard, authorities said.

Maria Jesus Martinez Garcia, 22, was driving east at 3:40 p.m. as the Ventura County Railway engine was switching cars on the tracks where they cross 7th Street east of Meta Street, Police Officer Bob Camarillo said. Garcia said she did not hear the approaching train, which struck her car, Camarillo said.

Garcia suffered minor injuries in the collision.
