LANCASTER : Truck Hauls Away Stolen Merchandise
Thieves stole the tractor of a semi-trailer truck Thursday and then used it to haul away $120,000 in merchandise in front of employees of a Lancaster discount store, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
An employee spotted four men near a Red International cab that was backed up to a trailer parked at the Wal-Mart Discount Cities store at 44765 Valley Central Way, Deputy Gil Arce said. But the trailer was gone before employees determined that it was not scheduled to be taken anywhere, he said.
The tractor was reported stolen a short time later from 16th Street West in Lancaster, Arce said. The tractor and trailer had not been recovered Thursday.
