Suppan to Pitch for UCLA

Jeff Suppan, a right-handed pitcher for Crespi High, said Thursday he plans to sign a letter of intent to play baseball at UCLA. The NCAA’s weeklong early-signing period begins Wednesday.

Suppan said he chose UCLA over USC, Nevada, California and Cal State Long Beach.

Suppan was 7-3 with a 1.28 earned-run average for the Celts as a junior. He had 82 strikeouts in 71 1/3 innings.
