San Gabriel : 6% Utility Tax Approved
The City Council gave final approval last week to a 6% utility users’ tax to maintain city services endangered by the state budget crisis and to restore some positions previously cut.
City Administrator P. Michael Paules said five-sixths of the tax will maintain city services at current levels. The remaining 1% will allow the city to hire three police officers and one fire battalion chief, positions lost in a cutback two years ago.
