BREA : Members Sought for Open-Space Panel

Share

The City Council is seeking members of the public who want to serve on an ad hoc committee to study the preservation of open space in the city and neighboring unincorporated areas of the county.

Senior Planner Jay Trevino said three at-large seats in the seven-member committee are still open. He urged residents to send letters to the Planning Division expressing their interest in serving on the committee. The deadline is 5 p.m. Nov. 16.

From among the letters submitted, three will be drawn by lottery, with the council appointing the authors of the three letters to the committee on Nov. 17, Trevino said. The four other members of the committee will be two commissioners each from the Parks, Recreation and Human Services Commission and the Planning Commission.

Trevino said a team of city staff members will help the committee in its work, which is expected to last about six months. The panel will meet at least twice monthly.

The committee will study issues pertaining to the preservation of open space and make their recommendations to the City Council, disbanding after its job is done, Trevino said.
