Travis Sims, who gained 165 yards in 23 carries, scored on runs of eight and seven yards and Michael Carter ran in from 23 yards to give Hawaii a 24-13 victory over Colorado State and sole possession of first place in the Western Athletic Conference.
The victory in the game played Saturday night in Honolulu raised the Rainbows’ WAC record to 5-1. They are one game ahead of San Diego State, Brigham Young and Fresno State. Hawaii is 7-1 overall.
For Colorado State, Greg Primus caught four passes to become the school’s all-time receiver with 185 receptions.
