PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Eagles Stayed Under Wraps
After beating the Raiders, 31-10, Sunday while intercepting three of Todd Marinovich’s passes before the second quarter was half over, the Philadelphia Eagles bragged about their defensive strategy in their locker room.
They made a point of describing how they masked their zone coverage, making it look like man-to-man.
“I don’t care if you’re a rookie quarterback or a veteran quarterback,” Eagle cornerback John Booty said. “If you disguise your coverages, you can hold down any quarterback.”
Alexander Wright, obtained last month in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys, has been used primarily as a kick returner by the Raiders.
But he finally broke into the receiving column Sunday, catching four passes for a total of 36 yards.
