Share

The board of the Ventura County Community College District approved the guidelines and composition of a task force that will draft a district AIDS policy.

Students, faculty, administrators and local residents will be nominated to the AIDS Task Force by board trustees and college presidents.

The board is scheduled to finish selecting the committee next month.

The policy, which is expected to address the issue of AIDS education and condom distribution at Moorpark, Oxnard and Ventura colleges, will be considered by trustees in March,1993.

Earlier this year, the trustees rejected a broad revision of the district’s AIDS education policies because students, faculty and community members were not able to give their input during the drafting of the proposal.

In 1988, the district adopted its current policy on acquired immune deficiency syndrome, which allows for condom machines at the three campuses.

Moorpark and Oxnard colleges have condom dispensers in their restrooms, but Ventura College does not.

Students at Ventura and Moorpark colleges can purchase condoms at the student stores and student health centers.
