The Aztecs announced that seven individuals will be inducted into the Aztec Athletic Hall of Fame at ceremonies on Nov. 28 the day of the SDSU-Miami game:

Norm Nygaard, who was the school’s all-time leading rusher before being surpassed on Saturday by Marshall Faulk; Barbara Barrow (golf, 1974-1977); Bud Black (baseball, 1978-1979); Deby LaPlante (track and field, 1979-1980); Tony Pinkins (basketball, 1955-1957); Bob Smith (track and field, 1949-1950) and Charlie Smith (baseball coach, 1934-1964).

Pinkins and Smith are deceased.

Induction ceremonies will take place the morning of the SDSU-Miami game; the inductees will be introduced at halftime.

Faulk again is not talking to the media this week. After a half-dozen reporters showed up for the informal weekly news conference with Faulk, Faulk told SDSU sports information director John Rosenthal that this week’s game against Hawaii is too big and that he needs to concentrate on football.

Apparently, Faulk thinks he is Ross Perot.

Next thing you know, he’ll start doing 30-minute infomercials on television instead of interviews, complete with pie charts, pointers and big ears.

Any football coach who shows a sense of humor deserves at least a little extra publicity, so here it is for Hawaii Coach Bob Wagner.

It isn’t in the denying that his team had racial problems last season; it’s in the imagery.

“We’re the United Nations, Baskin-Robbins,” Wagner said. “We’ve got white kids, black kids, Polynesian kids. We probably have more of a mix than anybody.”

The Aztecs are listing defensive end Ramondo Stallings (sprained ankle) and linebacker Terrill Steen (knee) as doubtful for Saturday’s game.
