The early-signing period started Wednesday and lasts for a week. Players who decide to wait can sign during the spring period, April 14 to May 15.

Boseman, regarded as the state’s top all-around athlete, was interested in schools that would allow him to play football and basketball.

An All-Southern Section quarterback last season, he plans to redshirt in football his freshman year to concentrate on school and basketball.

USC also signed 6-6 forward Jaha Wilson of San Francisco Riordan.

Three players from Santa Ana Mater Dei, State Division I runner-up, also signed. David Drakeford, a 6-3 guard, signed with Oregon State; 5-9 guard Kamran Sufi with Oregon State and 6-3 forward Chris Jackson with UC Riverside.

UCLA is in the running for 6-6 forward Charles O’Bannon and 6-11 center Avondre Jones of Artesia. Both say they will sign late.

Track star Marion Jones of Thousand Oaks reportedly plans to sign with North Carolina.
