Campaign Reforms

Share

Now that the election is over we can add up how much money was spent on campaigns. Ross Perot spent $60 million alone. The amount spent will be in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

This is a ridiculous state of affairs. Term limits will not change the system. The cast of characters will change but the money in politics will remain.

We have the best opportunity in years, with a change-oriented President and an electorate disturbed with politics as usual, to pass legislation that would limit amounts that can be spent on campaigns and eliminate political action committees.

We must level the playing field so that incumbents will not have the tremendous advantage they now have. We must open up the system so that any citizen would have the ability to run for public office.
