Desal: Better Now Than Later
When he was asked about pipeline concerns, the chairman of Venturans for State Water said: “The ocean will always be there. If we need it, we can always build a desal plant later.”
But “later” means a desalination plant costing twice as much as now.
Ventura’s vote for desalination was not surprising. We didn’t want water bills doubled for a pipeline now, and doubled again for a desal plant later.
