ROAD TO STRESS: Women commuters suffer more stress than men, according to a new UC Irvine study. No one’s quite sure why. Researchers suspect women may worry more about home and family duties while on the road. UCI’s School of Social Ecology studied 100 local commuters for two years. . . . Overall, the research showed that commuting, especially by long-distance solo drivers, exacts a high social cost at home: Physical and emotional stress drains the working parents.
