The 31,000 Tampa-area fans who paid $50 each to reserve Giants’ baseball tickets for next season were asked to donate that money to the legal fight over the rejected relocation of the team.
That request was made a day after St. Petersburg filed suit in Florida state court against major league baseball, the National League and the 13 clubs other than the Giants. St. Petersburg also filed counterclaims to lawsuits filed in California seeking to keep the Giants from leaving Candlestick Park before the expiration of their lease in 1994.
