Trading touchdowns for turnovers, Calvary Chapel closed out its first season in the Olympic League with a 34-7 victory over Ontario Christian Saturday night at Orange Coast College.

The Eagles (5-5, 2-3), champions of the Arrowhead League and Division X finalists last season, scored their four first-half touchdowns after Ontario Christian turnovers.

“Those turnovers were caused by good hits and good pass defense,” Calvary Chapel Coach Kris Van Hook said. “Really, for the first time this season, we capitalized on turnovers and put some good drives together.”

Matt Kellogg ran for two scores and rushed for 92 yards, and Sabe Younger intercepted two passes and caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Waylan Kruse for Calvary Chapel.

Kellogg and Younger are two of only six seniors playing for the Eagles. Calvary Chapel starts 10 sophomores and six juniors.

One of those juniors, running back Robert Hudson, scored on runs of one and 25 yards.

The Eagles won their final two games, handing Bethany Christian its first league loss last week.

Ontario Christian (3-6-1, 0-5) had four interceptions and a fumble in its five possessions during the first half. Quarterback Eric De Groot completed six of seven passes for 80 yards in the second half.
