Doug Dickey, Tennessee athletic director, has criticized some of Saturday’s postgame comments by Coach Johnny Majors, who announced his resignation Friday night.

On a radio show, Majors said “the rug has been pulled out from under me” and that he was “very shocked and grossly disappointed” at the university administration for the handling of his departure.

“Coach Majors has to use his own judgment on what he says and does, but I think it is reasonable for us to expect certain courtesies to the university, especially during his radio and television shows,” Dickey told the Nashville Tennessean.
