Suspect in Robbery of Store Arrested

A man who allegedly robbed a Builders Emporium at gunpoint Wednesday evening was arrested about an hour later after police surrounded a home in Santa Ana where he had fled.

The man entered the store on East Chapman Avenue at 8:54 p.m. just as it was about to close. He was reportedly armed with a semiautomatic shotgun and forced the manager into an office, said Orange Lt. Ed Falkenstein.

“He forced the manager to open a safe inside of the office and took approximately $3,000 in cash,” Falkenstein said. “He then handcuffed the manager and left the store. The manager managed to slip out of the handcuffs and called police.”
