OJAI : Arts Group Seeks Grant Applications

The Ojai Arts Funding Project is accepting applications for the 1992-93 grants-in-aid program for local artists and arts groups.

This year, $4,000 will be made available to Ojai artists and groups through the Ojai Arts Commission, said Bert Collins, vice chairman of the commission.

“The grant is part of the city’s yearly budget, and with all the budget cuts at the state and local levels, we were lucky that we got the same funding as last year,” Collins said.

In order to receive city funding, individual artists and groups must form a partnership with a nonprofit organization that will act as the fiscal receiver, he said.

Past recipients have included the Ojai Festival, Royal Shakespeare Revels, Ojai Community Chorus and Illusions Theatre.

The application deadline is Jan. 16.

Applications are available at the Ojai City Hall, 401 S. Ventura St.; the Ojai Center for the Arts, 113 S. Montgomery St., and the Ojai Library, 111 E. Ojai Ave. Or, applicants may contact the Ojai Arts Commission at 646-6907.
