PACOIMA : Study of Air Park Improvements OKd
Los Angeles County supervisors Tuesday approved a contract with a Santa Rosa firm to prepare plans and conduct an engineering survey for reconstruction of the runway at Whiteman Air Park in Pacoima.
The runway, a county report indicates, needs “major repairs and upgrading to meet current” Federal Aviation Administration standards. The plans and studies to be performed by Hodges & Shutt Inc. of Santa Rosa will cost up to $223,700, but the county will have to pay only 10% of that cost, with the remainder being picked up by the FAA.
Ultimately, the county estimates that the repairs and improvements will cost $2.9 million, which also will be eligible for 90% FAA funding.
