Airlines Plan Fare Hikes: Major airlines said they will impose a mileage-based fare increase that will boost tickets from $10 to $30. United and American said they will resurrect a fare increase they planned to impose in November but didn’t when it failed to win industry support. Delta and Trans World Airlines said they will follow the lead set by United and American and raise fares as well.
