La Puente : New Time for City Council

Share

Beginning in January, regular meetings of the City Council will start half an hour earlier than they currently do.

At its Tuesday meeting, the council voted 3 to 2 to start the sessions at 7:30 p.m., rather than 8 p.m.

Councilmen Charles Storing and Manuel Garcia opposed the change. Storing argued that the earlier starting time will cause some members of the public to arrive late because of their work schedules.

The proposal was introduced last month by Mayor Louis Perez, who wanted the meetings to start a full hour earlier. However, several residents objected that 7 p.m. meetings would not allow them to arrive on time. The council compromised on 7:30 p.m.

The council’s regular meetings are on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.
