Outlook: If the defense solidifies, the Oilers will challenge for the league title. But whether it will is unclear. “Almost our entire defense is brand new,” Chambers said. “We expect to score some goals, but we need to get some good play in the back.” Norgan will take the first shot at playing sweeper. Fortunately, the Oilers have a solid goalkeeper in Goldman, who had 12 shutouts last season.
