From Times staff and wire reports

Hundreds of San Francisco residents marched in a candlelight procession to mark the 14th anniversary of the slaying of gay activist and city Supervisor Harvey Milk, pledging to fulfill the assassinated leader’s dream of a march on Washington. A crowd estimated between 300 and 1,000 marched from the Castro District to City Hall to honor the memory of Milk and Mayor George Moscone, who were slain Nov. 27, 1978, by disgruntled Supervisor Dan White. The marchers followed behind a banner reading “March on Washington, April 25, 1993.” Milk had called for such a march on the Capitol.
