SANTA CLARITA : 4 Scenic Trails Under Construction

Share

Four trails under construction in Santa Clarita along bridges, rivers and roads will provide what city officials hope will be safe and scenic routes for pedestrians, hikers, bicyclists and equestrians.

The trails are being financed by grants from the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission and by funding that will be made available as a result of voter approval of Proposition A in November, officials said.

One route is the South Fork Trail, which is expected to be ready in January and will connect Magic Mountain Parkway and Orchard Village Road.

It will include an equestrian route, fencing and a pedestrian bridge over the South Fork River bed.

Others, which will be ready in 1994 or 1995, are:

* The Bouquet Canyon Trail, which will wind from Bouquet Canyon Road to the Santa Clara River bridge on McBean Parkway.

* The Santa Clara River Trail, which will extend from the Soledad Canyon Bridge just west of Camp Plenty Road to the Antelope Valley Freeway.

* The Commuter Rail Station Trail, which will connect the Metrolink station to the Santa Clara River Trail at Soledad Canyon Bridge.
