WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : USC Starts Fast

Joni Easterly scored 19 points and Lisa Leslie had 18 points and 12 rebounds Friday as the ninth-ranked USC women’s basketball team opened its season with a 78-43 victory over Lamar in the DePaul tournament at Chicago.
USC had two 10-0 runs during the first half and held Lamar scoreless for a eight-minute stretch.
CS Long Beach 82, South Alabama 66--Neisha Williams made six of nine three-point attempts and finished with 22 points and five rebounds as the 49ers won in the first round of a tournament at San Marcos, Tex.
