THOUSAND OAKS : Longer Workdays in Sight at City Hall

Share

When the city of Thousand Oaks begins next month closing its City Hall offices every Friday to comply with new county air pollution regulations, it will also expand office hours the rest of the four-day workweek to better accommodate the public, officials said.

Beginning Jan. 4, the City Hall building at 2150 W. Hillcrest Drive will open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. City Hall office hours are now 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Despite the change in office hours, some workers, such as building inspectors, will continue to work on Fridays to accommodate home builders and contractors, city officials said.

The shorter workweek is part of a plan to comply with a county pollution-reduction rule that requires large employers, including city and county government offices, to reduce the number of commuters who drive alone to work.

Thousand Oaks earlier this year became the second city in the county to adopt the compressed workweek. Oxnard city officials have also decided to close their City Hall offices on Friday.

For emergencies, Thousand Oaks residents can call the city’s answering service at 496-6084.
