GOLF ROUNDUP : Floyd’s 19 Under Par Leaves Field Reeling
Raymond Floyd, with a seven-under-par 65 over the final 18 holes, finished at 19-under 197 for three rounds to run away with the season-ending Senior Tour Championships Sunday at the Dorado Beach Resort in Puerto Rico.
Finishing tied for second, five strokes back, were George Archer and Dale Douglass.
Floyd’s 19 under tied a senior record shared by Miller Barber, Bruce Crampton, Don January, Jack Nicklaus and Jimmy Powell.
Floyd collected $150,000 from the total purse of $1 million and closed his rookie season on the over-50 circuit with $417,991 in only seven starts.
Dawn Coe-Jones held off a late charge and beat Beth Daniel, 2-up, to win the LPGA Match Play Championship at Waikoloa, Hawaii.
