Coca-Cola Unveils Tab Clear: Coca-Cola Co. has joined the colorless, naturally flavored cola business with plans to sell Tab Clear, a transparent, sugar-free diet soft drink. Coca-Cola USA President Doug Ivester described Tab Clear as having “the flavor of a cola, but it’s clear; it’s clear but it contains caffeine, and it’s a Tab but with a mouthful of flavor.” The diet cola will go on sale in January in 10 U.S. cities, with nationwide distribution expected to start in the middle of 1993. Coke’s announcement comes on the heels of PepsiCo Inc.’s introduction of Crystal Pepsi.
