THOUSAND OAKS : Gunman Flees After Paint Store Holdup
An armed robber held up a Thousand Oaks paint store as two employees were locking up for the night, forcing the employees back into the store at gunpoint and fleeing with over $500, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said Monday.
Angelo Rizzo, manager of the Standard Brands Paint & Home Decorating Center in the 2200 block of West Hillcrest Drive, and Robert Clemens, an employee, were closing the store at 6:30 p.m. Sunday when they were approached by a man dressed in black and wearing a ski mask.
The assailant, described as a white male in his 30s, displayed a semiautomatic handgun and ordered the two men back into the store. The gunman forced Clemens to lie down on the floor and ordered Rizzo to open the store’s safe.
The gunman escaped on foot with about $580, deputies said.
Neither Rizzo or Clemens were injured in the robbery, deputies said.
