SAN FERNANDO : Student Injured in Drive-By Shooting

Share

A 17-year-old San Fernando High School student was shot in the hip Tuesday, apparently in a gang-related drive-by shooting during lunch hour, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The student was standing in front of the school at 12:55 p.m. when a black Volkswagen approached, carrying three boys who flashed gang signals, said Shel Erlich, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Shots were fired from the car, at least one of which struck the student in his hip.

No suspects were taken into custody Tuesday, Sgt. Frank Reynoso said. The student was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center where he was treated and released, a nursing supervisor said.
