CANTATA: The cantata “Star of Love” by Alfred Burt will be presented by the Chancel Choir at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at Our Savior’s First Lutheran Church, 16603 San Fernando Mission Blvd., Granada Hills.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAMS: Following are some of the special Christmas programs being offered locally:

* A children’s pageant titled “The Word of Promise” will be offered during the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church of North Hollywood, 5000 Colfax Ave. On Christmas Eve, a family service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, followed by a candlelight service at 10:30 p.m.

* “Not a Creature Was Stirring,” a children’s Christmas musical, will be presented at 11 a.m. Sunday at Northridge Community Church of the Nazarene, 10650 Reseda Blvd. Christmas Eve candlelight vespers with music will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday.

* The Sepulveda Unitarian-Universalist Society will host holiday activities including refreshments, a slide show and caroling at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, followed by a 7 p.m. service at 9550 Haskell Ave., North Hills.

* “Silent Was the Night,” a cantata by Lani Smith, will be sung by the choir of Epiphany Lutheran Church as part of the church’s Christmas Eve service at 11 p.m. The church is located at 7769 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Canoga Park.

TORAH STUDY: Moshe Cohen, a Torah and Talmud scholar, conducts a Torah study group at the Valley Storefront Multiservice Center for Seniors, 12821 Victory Blvd., North Hollywood, from noon to 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Fridays of each month. Participants can register by calling (818) 984-0276. Admission is free.

JEWISH CLASSES: Registration is now open for classes in Jewish history, Jewish customs and ceremonies, in addition to women in Judaism, at the West Valley Jewish Community Center, 22622 Vanowen St., West Hills. The six-week classes will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Sundays, beginning Jan. 10, or from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays, beginning Jan. 11. The cost is $20 per class for members of the center and $30 for non-members. Preregistration is required. More information can be obtained by calling 818-587-3300.
