Share

A scholarship fund in memory of a student killed in a recent accident has been established at Citrus College.

Zachariah Carter, a 17-year-old business student at the Glendora school, was fatally injured on Nov. 19 when he fell from a high extension ladder that toppled in the storage room of a Lucky supermarket in Azusa, where he worked part time at night.

He suffered severe head injuries and died five days later at Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora.

Carter, who graduated last June from Azusa High School, is survived by his mother, Faith; father, Stephen, and a younger sister, Tiffany.

The first Zachariah Carter scholarship will be awarded in August to a Citrus student who demonstrates financial need, has at least a 3.0 grade point average and holds a part-time job.

Donations may be sent to the Zachariah Carter Scholarship Memorial Fund, Citrus College, 1000 W. Foothill Blvd., Glendora 91740.
