Suspect in Missouri Killing Shoots Self
A man wanted for a killing in Missouri shot himself in the head when police surrounded him, a day after he was named on the TV series “America’s Most Wanted.” He was in guarded condition Sunday.
Police in West Orange, N.J., said that James Henry Hampton, 54, shot himself Saturday as officers confronted him on a street. An informant had told police that a pastor had sheltered Hampton since August, the Star-Ledger of Newark reported Sunday.
The FBI had been hunting Hampton in the kidnaping and murder of a 58-year-old St. Louis woman who was abducted from her home Aug. 3.
