LOS ANGELES COUNTY : Molina Calls for Oversight of Block Grant Programs
Supervisor Gloria Molina called Tuesday for greater oversight of Community Services Block Grant programs in Los Angeles County’s Department of Community and Senior Citizens’ Services, saying that she has discovered irregularities in programs serving her district.
“You will find programs that don’t exist when you go looking for them,” Molina said of the department. “I’m asking that the department take a leadership role in developing aggressive monitoring of these programs.”
The board adopted a motion by Molina that gives the department 60 days to establish new monitoring and auditing guidelines for the programs.
