LAKE CASITAS : Catfish to Be Planted for Holiday Fishing

Catfish lovers can expect good fishing at Lake Casitas after next Wednesdaywhen the Casitas Municipal Water District stocks the lake with more than 3,800 pounds of the whiskered bottom-feeders.

Most of the channel catfish, which are all of catch size, will weigh about one pound. But some of the feisty fish will weigh up to four pounds, making for “exciting action for local anglers,” said Douglas A. Ralph, park services manager for the district.

“This plant was scheduled during the holiday season to provide more fishing action for those lucky enough to be off work and school during the holidays,” Ralph said.
