Brawl Injures 4 Jail Inmates
An argument between two inmates over a pair of shoes erupted into a race-related brawl at the county jail in Castaic, leaving four people with minor injuries, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday.
The fight, which began about 8 p.m. Monday, ended when deputies arrived. No deputies were injured in the melee, Deputy Gabe Ramirez said.
A black and a Latino inmate at the Peter J. Pitchess Honor Rancho got into an argument over the shoes, setting off a fight between a dozen Latinos and eight blacks in the medium security dorm, Ramirez said.
The four inmates were treated at the jail clinic for cuts and bruises, he said.
