Newport Man Helps Chair Seniors Panel

C. Edward Wolfe of Newport Beach has been elected vice chairman of the Joint Rules Committee of the Senior Legislature, which recommends bills to the state Legislature.

Over the past 12 years, according to Wolfe, the group has had 75% of its recommended proposals become state law.

As part of his duties, Wolfe will act as speaker of the Senior Assembly at its annual meeting.

Craig D. Turk, a Tustin resident and an honors graduate of Foothill High School, has received a Rotary Foundation scholarship to study at a college abroad for one year.

Turk, now attending Harvard University, was selected over 23 other nominees, according to Pat Kapp, president of the Santa Ana-North Rotary Club, which is helping Turk select the college abroad.

“Turk is truly an outstanding young man with great potential,” said Kapp.

Carolyn Goode of Fountain Valley has been elected president of the Orange County sub-chapter of the Southern California chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America Inc.

The sub-chapter recently presented recognition awards to members Jan Gissel of Tustin; Kerryn Coffman of Huntington Beach, the outgoing president; and Marquita Serio of Santa Ana.

Drs. Larry D. Greenfield of Fullerton and Armen A. Shahbazian of Orange were named fellows of the American College of Radiology, a national group of 28,000 radiological physicians.

Kathy Lund of Costa Mesa, a senior at Costa Mesa High School, attended the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington. The theme of the conference was “Leaders of Tomorrow Meeting the Leaders of Today.”

Roland Osgood of Newport Beach has been chosen by the Boy Scouts of America, Orange County Council, to receive its 1992 Good Scout Award for his entrepreneurial spirit and community leadership in the construction industry. A certified public accountant, he is the founder and president of Vintage Communities.

Michael Trudeau, 17, of Laguna Niguel was presented his Boy Scout Eagle Award at a court of honor attended by 50 members of his family, eight of them Boys Scouts who had also earned Eagle Awards.

A junior at Dana Hills High School in Dana Point, Trudeau built a shade structure at the R.H. Dana Exceptional Needs Facility for the handicapped for his Eagle Award community service project.

A member of Niguel Presbyterian Church, he is the son of Nancy and Fred Trudeau.

Fullerton resident Evelyn E. Bauman, vice chairwoman of the Cal State Fullerton Advisory Board, has been named 1992 Volunteer of the Year at the college.

“For 30 years, Evvy has been intimately involved in the development of a quality state university,” said Arnold Miller, chairman of the board.

Judy Mandel, director of advancement programs, noted that Bauman “is the model of an ideal volunteer.”

Bauman also chairs the El Dorado Rancho Preservation Committee, which is overseeing the restoration of the university residence on Union Avenue.
