LOS ANGELES COUNTY : Passes Required for Users of Park Trails

Share

Users of Los Angeles County trails must now carry annual trail passes or risk being fined $54.

The passes, which cost $23, are required for users over the age of 16 as of Jan. 1. The fee is part of an effort to keep the trails open by offsetting part of the budget deficit in the Department of Parks and Recreation.

During county budget deliberations, supervisors considered closing the trails to public use before settling on the passes and some other budget adjustments to keep them open.

The passes will be required on more than 330 miles of county-maintained horse, jogging, hiking and bicycling trails and will be sold at park offices, nature centers and recreation district offices. Free county trail maps will also be available at the offices.
