Retarded Man, 42, Lost in Costa Mesa
Police are looking for a mentally retarded 42-year-old man who wandered from the Fairview Developmental Center on Wednesday.
John Irvin, who has a history of aggression and needs medication to control his behavior, was last seen at the facility at 9:30 a.m., said Lynne McKnight, assistant to the executive director of the center.
Irvin can understand and follow simple directions. He also repeats his name and “McDonald’s hamburgers” and “lunch.” When seated, he rocks back and forth, McKnight said.
Irvin is 5-foot-8, 170 pounds, with blue eyes, brown hair and a mustache. He was wearing white slip-on shoes, tan pants, a print shirt and a tan jacket.
