TOURING NEWS: Suicidal Tendencies may play Los Angeles this spring for the first time in years. The problem had been the Venice hard-rock band’s supposed draw of gang members to its shows--and no Los Angeles promoter wanted to take a chance on them. But Suicidal’s 1990 appearance at UC Irvine’s Bren Events Center went off without incident.

Avalon Attractions’ Brian Murphy is already planning to book the band at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in April and may add a date at the Los Angeles Sports Arena or Long Beach Arena. Cliff Burnstein, the group’s co-manager, is hopeful it can be arranged. He said the tour will also include Suicidal singer Mike Muir’s other band, Infectious Grooves.

“I don’t think security will be a problem,” Murphy says. “If you take precautions you can make it work. You just need to spend the time.”
